The UC Merced Weather Station is Online!

This last storm brought a wonderful amount of rain to the Merced Vernal Pools and Grassland Reserve (2.45 inches!), increasing our total rainfall this season to 3.66 inches.  It not only is exciting to see water falling from the sky, but it is also exciting that all users can now get up-to-date information on local campus weather through a new weblink.

The UC Merced weather station (aka Martha Conklin’s weather station), located just outside of the Reserve on the UCM Campus Buildout Lands, has undergone major upgrades, and UCM now has a formal agreement with the Merced Irrigation District (MID) to have MID maintain the weather station and send data to the California Data Exchange Center (CDEC).  Users of the Reserve can access this local weather data through the CDEC website (http://cdec.water.ca.gov/dynamicapp/staMeta?station_id=UCM).  Live updates to CDEC are available from May 18, 2017 to the present.
